Ferdos Maleki was born into a cultured family and raised predominantly by her grandmother in the city of Rasht, on the Caspian Coast of Iran. Since her earliest years, she was fascinated by concepts involving universal connectedness and was naturally drawn to the arts. Her grandmother introduced her to the intoxicating words of Hafez and Rumi, and as a young child she brought those stories to life via her art. Through significant study in poetry and philosophy she has been drawn to spiritual teachers and their lands. This has shaped her spiritual centered persona.

While in Iran, Ferdos received a degree in Sociology from the National University of Iran. In 1984 Ferdos and her family immigrated to USA, where she continued her education in California, with a focus on meditation, studio art and fashion. In 1999 Ferdos began teaching Insight Meditation. From 2000 Ferdos began teaching at Fashion Institute of Design (FIDM). She is also the founder of Ambience Studio, an artistic center focusing on painting and innovative art.

Regarding Meditation
In her discussions, spirituality refers to an ultimate reality; an inner path enabling a person to discover the essence of their being; or the deepest values and meanings by which people live. Her teaching is based on providing access to inner field of consciousness, which refers to transcendental or simply beyond the average daily experiences of most people. Her meditation teaches a focus on ancient practice that calms the body and breath while focusing the mind. Her students have found reduced anxiety, creating inner tranquility and peace of mind. “We were born with love, peace and joy and connected one with Grace. Along the path we learned and experienced separation. We created our own perception bubble and through this we became separated from each other and disconnected from the source of creation. Through meditation we can go back to our true nature and be reconnected with a balance between the inner and outer world. How we learn meditation, is the attitude from which we engage the process. The most important thing is that we come to meditation with an open heart, willing to be guided along the path. You don’t need to do or learn new things, all you need is the willingness to remove blockage to the wellspring water and everything else will fall into place. You don’t need to change the world, instead look at the world with love and the potent force of miracles will begin.” – Ferdos Maleki
